Droplets of Verse: ‘The Skin of a Melon’

I stopped at the top of the stairs
And swallowed your stare
I didn’t know if you could be
The straight ray of a moon beam

The skin of a melon
Seems so smooth
But closer inspection
Shows up cracks and grooves

And so I chase a shadow
It always escapes me
It’s elusive in nature
Always out of reach

Shadows in the late afternoon.
Shadows in the late afternoon. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
