Droplets of Verse: ‘Splendid Sunrise’

Traffic streams down the hill
Sheep wander into the overspill
The crook of an arm has a guiding hand
Ants walk in line like a marching band

The shepherd sits with his pipe, smoking
Lines of sheep remain, unbroken
Hills are climbed, clouds crook their fingers
Devils get chased by stone slingers

A blade of grass bends, but never breaks
Inside a lamb’s body, a heartbeat awakes
Another story is born, another pair of eyes
Opens to the splendid sunrise
