Droplets of Verse: ‘Office Rottweiler’

When it came to administration
There was no one better.
The Office Rottweiler insisted on
Double doses of spellchecker
The stationery cupboard
Was always well stocked
The petty cash tin
Never left unlocked

After thirty years in the job
While still in her prime
She made a decision
To reduce her hours, and go part-time
So she did, and then was able
To pursue some new hobbies
She grew her own veg
And admired the layout of hotel lobbies

With her mind now a maze of new information
She ceased to be quite so meticulous
One day the Office Rottweiler came in to work
Still wearing her bedroom slippers
