Droplets of Verse: ‘Build Your Own Drone’

When a superpower sits on the doorstep
Protection can’t be purchased at the Polski Sklep
Previous rogue tenants stripped store cupboards bare
Toolsheds stand completely empty, they sold off the hardware

Old tanks stand rusting in military graveyards
Oil cans arrive, held in the hands of diehards
Eggheads and engineers join minds and machinery
Wizardry welding wheels back on to weaponry

Hummingbirds would be worthwhile, to hover over borders
A squadron of drones might slow down the slaughter
Heads, hearts and hands work together, so furious
To build a handful of drones, from spare parts and twists of genius
