Droplets of Verse: ‘The Favourite Tunes of Theresa May’

As part of her devotion and  duty to the nasty party
Theresa May chooses her favourite tunes, but nothing too arty
She’s on Radio Four, the programme is Desert Island Discs
Presenting herself as cultured, bursting with healthy aesthetics
She’s often compared to the Iron Lady, but there’s no Heavy Metal
Her choices are clean and clinical, rinsed down with dabs of Dettol
Mozart and Elgar, excellent composers, extraordinary  repertoires
But there’s no air guitar prog rock, such as Pink Floyd’s ‘Have a Cigar’
Abba’s ‘Dancing Queen’ could be a knowing nod to the disco scene
Or a prediction that post-election 2015, Cameron will be a has been
She expresses loyalty to his leadership, betrayal never on her breath
He gets her vote of confidence, it’s as good as a kiss of death
